On Tuesday, Marc Watts, president of The Friedkin Group, was honored by the United Way of Greater Houston as the Robert. W. Kneebone Volunteer of the Year.
Watts has long held leadership roles within the United Way, serving as Board Chair from 2015 to 2018 and Campaign Chair in 2014-2015. Under his stewardship, the United Way’s 2014-2015 Community Campaign raised $82 million, the second-highest total in the organization’s history. He was also at the helm when Hurricane Harvey decimated the Houston region and helped the United Way raise $51 million for the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
Watts, who currently serves on the organization’s executive committee, received the award at the United Way Annual Meeting.
The Robert W. Kneebone Award is the United Way’s highest honor in recognition of volunteer support and dedication. Recipients are selected based on commitment to the community, personal sacrifice, longevity and quality of service, inspiration to others, tangible results of efforts and scope of service.
The Friedkin Group is a long-time supporter of the United Way of Greater Houston, which works to strengthen the community by developing children and youth to their full potential, creating strong families and safe neighborhoods, sustaining senior independence and rebuilding people’s lives in times of crisis.
